Back in January when I had to have a blood test to check my metabolic balance the results came back that I was extremely dehydrated. Jenny said that she hadn’t ever seen anyone so dehydrated.
At that time I had to drink 4 litres of water a day. Also at that time I was really hungry and I couldn’t eat any food between my meals so drinking water was my only option.
I found it really hard but eventually I got to the point where I could drink 3 litres a day. It was odd but the less I had to drink the more I struggled with it. The fact that I wasn’t feeling so hungry any more made my want to drink water less. It didn’t stop the fact that I needed it.
Water now is still the one thing I struggle with. However hard I try I just can’t seem to drink enough.
I am however starting to realise the signs of dehydration. One thing I notice is that my weight doesn’t move which can be very frustrating. I also feel really bloated which can cause the scales to rise. My tongue starts to feel dry.
I can also feel really hungry. I think thirst can be mistaken for hunger sometimes, I have fallen into that trap so many times before. I have eaten something when really I just need a drink.
Lately I have been feeling like I am dehydrated with the hunger, bloating and dry tongue.
So for the last few days I have been drinking a pint of water before each meal and making sure I drink at least 2 small bottles between the meals too. I think it is working. I don’t feel as hungry or bloated as I did. The scales haven’t gone down as yet but I am confident they will soon.
So drinking water makes me feel a lot better and I need to keep it up. But I think that is easier said than done.

I have trouble getting enough water, too. I don’t know why I have to try to drink water but my Mom is the same way. I do good for awhile and then I go back to the old habit of not drinking water. Ah well, we keep trying!
