Practice Peace
‘Practice Peace’ was the topic at church yesterday. I am a person who likes peace and quiet and needs my own space at some point everyday.
Finding it now is a lot easier than when the kids were younger. Back then the only place I could find peace was in the loo!!! I remember on occasions I went there because I just needed a few minutes peace while all chaos broke out on the other side of the door. Now, with the kids grown up, it’s easier for me to find peace. I don’t have to escape to the loo anymore.
However, finding inner peace is a little more difficult. You can’t just grab that turmoil, anguish or anxiety and flush it down the toilet or just shut the door on it. It takes a bit more work.
Inner peace isn’t about escaping chaos – it’s about learning to carry calm within us, no matter what’s happening around us. It’s about trusting that even in the storms of life there is still a place of rest in our hearts.
For me, practicing peace means surrendering the things I can’t control, breathing through the moments that feel overwhelming and reminding myself that I’m not alone in any of it.
Some days, peace comes easily. Other days, it’s a battle. But I’m learning that true peace isn’t found in perfect circumstances – it’s found in knowing where to place my trust even when life feels uncertain.
So today, I choose to practice peace.
