Year 4 month 2
February 2019
A couple of weeks ago at church we had a guest speaker. One of the things she talked about was staying focused on our goals.
She started talking about our peripheral vision. Peripheral vision is a part of vision that occurs only on the side gaze. She said that we need to stop getting distracted by our peripheral vision and focus on what’s ahead
I think that is exactly what I have been doing for a while now. I have got distracted by all the things that have been going on around me rather than focusing on the goal.
Getting back my focus has been proving to be particularly hard. I was trying to lose weight and get back on track on my own. I wasn’t really asking for any help.
This last week our church has started 21 days of prayer and fasting. I know to fast is not a diet – the point is to give up something for that period of time whilst praying for breakthrough in other areas of our lives.
I am taking part and whilst I am not fasting totally, I am doing what’s called a Daniel fast. This means I can eat only fruit, vegetables and some protein but no meat. It’s very similar to what I have done back in 2016.
I am managing to do it and I think it’s because I am not alone. Many, many other people in the church are fasting too.
There is something about not doing things on your own that give you motivation to carry on. I am hoping by the end of the 21 days my eating habits will be so good that I can continue naturally without help and hopefully lose more weight in the process.
