Today was the kids first day back at school. After they were dropped off I gave out a great big sigh of relief. The house was so quiet I loved it.
Last night I told Matt that I think I need to start running. I thought it is one way I can really step it up a bit.
A few years ago I had real problems with my knees. I had a knee injury and for about 5 years I have not been able to walk properly. Walking down the stairs has always been a problem with my knee.
I have had years of physio on it. One place I went to took X-rays of my knees and they said that I am never to run because my knees can’t take that pressure.
Last year though the physio did wonders because he seemed to correct the situation. I have since then been very wary about any strenuous exercise on it like running.
Today I decided to totally ignore the doctors advice because I am now 5 stone lighter and, if I think about it now, it was probably a polite way of the doctors saying that they couldn’t take the pressure with so much weight pounding on top of it!
I can’t remember the last time I went running – I think it must have been in my school days. But I have never done it voluntarily.
Today though I actually did some running
Ok, so it was on a treadmill and I didn’t run for long. But it’s a start and I need to see how my knees can take it.
