The scales finally moved – not much but they still moved. I always find that getting under the stone mark is always a struggle and I don’t know why. But I am finally under 18 stone.
There are certain things on my food list that I haven’t had yet. Oranges is one of them. I have never really liked oranges but I do like freshly squeezed orange juice, so I thought I would have that instead. However I can’t have that because something happens while juicing.
I couldn’t explain it myself but Jenny the nutritionist sent me this explanation:
“When we juice oranges the fibre is removed which increases the impact of the fructose (sugar in fruit) on our blood sugars so the body will release insulin to remove this natural sugar from our blood. However, often we have too much and therefore over stimulate the production of insulin which then acts as a fat storing hormone.
Also we won’t sit and eat 5-6 oranges in a sitting so this is why we class orange juice as high glycemic load which you should avoid.
Vegetable juice is an alternative option: use half an apple with cucumber, celery, ginger and some basil and lime for a refreshing option.. Add avocado for a creamy texture!”
So I have been eating oranges and I have to say that my taste buds must have changed because I now like them!
