Dreams
My sisters birthday is fast approaching and one thing her husband had organised for her to do today was to tick an item off her bucket list.
She has been dreaming for a long time to milk a cow! I laughed and thought it was funny when I found out. I couldn’t imagine her ever wanting to do that. Growing up, she was afraid of a lot of things – cows being one of them.
She went off beaming from ear to ear. She couldn’t contain her excitement. She had a wonderful time and came back with her story to tell.
Later in the day I was sitting in the car with Angela, her friend Cheryle and my mum and we were all talking about it. I commented that I thought “it was a weird thing to dream of doing” and I started to laugh. I then went on to say “actually maybe not as I dreamed of having a free standing toilet roll holder for so long but our bathroom wasn’t big enough and the day I finally got one I was so excited”. Everyone laughed and Cheryle said “my dream is to never run out of toilet paper!” We were pretty much uncontrollable with laughter at this point. It was my mum, though, that sent us into total hysterics when she said “my dream is for someone to deliver 2 bananas every 2 days to my house!”
We came to the conclusion that Angela’s dream wasn’t so stupid after all. They say it’s the little things that mean a lot.
I know our dreams are silly but it’s good to dream and actually accomplish them. I do have other dreams – some are so big I’m not sure if they will ever be accomplished. To even try sometimes is overwhelming.
The key is to keep dreaming, keep adding to your bucket list. Not all will come about but the ones that do can give you a sense of achievement and put you in that happy place.
