I have never really been very flexible. I hate bending down and getting things off the floor because of my flexibility.
About 3 years ago I bought my Mums house, It was the one I grew up in. She has lived in it for 34 years and in that time she did it up to how she wanted it. It was nice but it was all my Mums taste however now that the house is ours we are changing it to our liking.
My Mum is a lot smaller than me. My height comes from my Dads side, so when my Mum had the kitchen done it was so she could reach the surfaces. I however found it way too low for me, it would make my back ache cooking in there.
Therefore the kitchen was one of the first things to go. Last year we got a new one with work surfaces a lot higher. I also had draws everywhere so I didn’t have to bend down to get into lower cupboards. Lazy? I know but it suits me and that’s who I did the kitchen for after all.
I have never been able to bend down and touch my toes either. I think my lack of flexibility has always been because of my weight.
Since losing weight I now find that I am a lot more flexible.
I have found that I don’t seem to have a problem bending down anymore. If I drop something now I bend down and pick it up myself rather than asking the kids to do it for me. I also don’t seem to have a problem looking in low cupboards anymore.
Today I even bent down and touched my toes. I have never been able to do that, especially with my legs straight.
